Good Turn Week 2013

Why it's so important to help others!

Good Turns form the beginnings of a healthy society. Lending a helping hand or a gesture of good will goes a long way and will help to preserve a sense of community, friendliness, and good will.

A recent study released from York University of Toronto claimed that giving random acts of kindness can leave you feeling with a sense of fulfillment for up to six months!

The Good Turn Week Campaign

Good Turn Week happens once a year and provides an opportunity to highlight the good work Scouting does for our communities. It also inspires others to make time for their own simple acts of kindness. Each Scouts Canada member has received a Good Turn Week bracelet. When they have completed their "Good Turn" they pass the bracelet on to the person they helped and encourage them do so as well. They then register their "Good Turn" with the Good Turn Week website or text the word Good Turn plus their good deed to 51051.

Thank a Scouter

Saying Thanks to a Scouts Canada volunteer for their outstanding contributions to Scouting is this easy:

Any stakeholder to Scouting (volunteers, youth, parents, the community at large) can fill out a simple form to commend a Scouter for their outstanding act or service to Scouting.

Scouters will receive a certificate every time they are commended by a stakeholder and it will be presented within the Scouter's section or group.

As Scouters accumulate commendations, they will become eligible for Outstanding Service Awards and will be recognized with a medal and uniform insignia for each award.
