1st New Maryland Scouts is a "self-funded" organization. What we mean by that is that we do not add money to the Registration Fee for parents. This means that we do rely on fundraising to run our programs. Below is a description of our normal fundraisers throughout the year.
We have a drop off bin located at the Esso Mini Mall on the New Maryland Highway to collect refundable bottles and cans (beer bottles and all ready to drink beverage containers). We appreciate the residents of New Maryland, Charters Settlement, Nasonworth, Beaver Dam, Rusagonis, etc. for supporting our bottle and can drop off bin.
For your information, the bin is open when the Esso is open, we had to start locking it due to thefts.

Each fall, we run the Scout Popcorn campaign. With your purchase of Scout Popcorn, you are doing more for the youth of New Maryland than you know. You are giving boys and girls the opportunity to experience the great outdoors and learn the strong values that they need to be responsible adults. Did you know that 60% of the purchase price of Scout Popcorn goes to the youth in your community?
We thank you for your support with your Scout Popcorn purchase. But the youth are not the only ones who benefit from your purchase of Scout Popcorn, you get a delicious high quality product to enjoy, too!

Early in January we hold our Annual Christmas Tree Pickup. We travel throughout the village picking up residents' disposed Christmas Trees, all for donations. We then drop the trees off for the Village's mulching program. This is a great fundraiser for our group, and a lot of fun! This is also a community service event.

In late April/early May, the Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venturer Scouts clean the garbage in the Village Community Parks, around the New Maryland Centre, and around the New Maryland Elementary School. The Village provides the group with a donation for the service.

The funds from this bottle bin are used to refresh our camping equipment, pay for leaders training, pay for program material (badges, crests, craft materials, etc.), and fund Camps for the Youth.
